More Than a Training Program
People come to dementia doula work from many different paths. Some have been personally touched by dementia and feel called to help others navigate the journey. Others already work alongside people living with dementia and want to deepen their knowledge, expand their skills, and offer a more comprehensive level of support.
You may be a professional caregiver, someone seeking a new path of service, or a leader within a church, healthcare organization, family, or community who wants the knowledge and practical skills to better support the people around you.
There is no single professional background that defines a dementia doula. What matters is the desire to learn, to serve, and to walk alongside individuals and families with knowledge, confidence, and compassion.
A Different Kind of Dementia Training
Dementia education often begins with understanding the disease. Dementia doula work asks us to go further—to understand the person living with it, the people who love them, and the changing needs that emerge throughout the journey.
The Quiet Path Dementia Doula Training brings knowledge into practice. You’ll learn not only about dementia and how it affects the brain, but how to recognize changing needs, communicate more effectively, support decision-making, work alongside families and care partners, and help people navigate what comes next.
The training follows the dementia journey from the early questions and diagnosis through progression, changing care needs, advanced dementia, and end of life. Along the way, you’ll develop practical tools for assessment, planning, education, advocacy, and person-centered support.
You’ll also explore how to put your training to work. For those who want to build a dementia doula practice, the program includes the practical business foundations for developing and offering your services. You’ll also learn how education can become part of your work—giving you tools to create presentations and bring meaningful dementia education to families, organizations, churches, professional groups, and the broader community.
This isn’t simply about knowing more about dementia. It’s about knowing how to use that knowledge to walk alongside someone well—and to bring that understanding into the communities you serve.
Dementia doula work requires more than understanding a diagnosis. Throughout the training, you’ll build knowledge and practical skills that help you see the whole person, understand the changing journey, and respond with greater confidence and intention.
Your training will explore:
Dementia & the Brain — understanding dementia, common types and causes, progression, and how changes in the brain can affect everyday life.
Person-Centered Practice — looking beyond symptoms and behaviors to understand the individual, their history, preferences, abilities, relationships, and what matters most to them.
Communication & Connection — adapting communication as dementia changes while helping preserve dignity, autonomy, and meaningful connection.
Assessment & Planning — learning to observe, gather information, recognize changing needs, and help individuals and families anticipate and plan for what may come next.
Families & Care Partners — supporting the people surrounding someone with dementia with education, practical guidance, resources, and compassionate presence.
Navigating Care & Resources — understanding care options, community resources, advocacy, transitions, and how to help families navigate an often complicated system.
Advanced Dementia & End of Life — recognizing changes associated with advanced dementia and helping individuals and families approach end-of-life decisions and care with greater understanding and preparation.
Education & Community Engagement — developing the skills to share dementia knowledge through presentations, conversations, and educational opportunities within professional and community settings.
Building Your Practice — exploring the practical foundations of creating dementia doula services, including defining whom you serve, developing your offerings, establishing your business, and bringing your work into the community.
Each part of the training builds upon the last, creating a practical framework you can adapt to the individuals, families, organizations, and communities you serve.

The training combines self-paced online learning with opportunities to apply what you are learning to real-world situations. Throughout the program, you’ll work with practical scenarios, tools, and exercises designed to help you translate knowledge into practice. You’ll also develop elements of your own dementia doula approach, explore how you may want to use your training, and begin creating the foundation for services, education, or community presentations that reflect the work you want to do.
